Research

The major research interests of this laboratory are to understand the biosynthesis and chemical properties of lignin, cellulose, hemicellulose, extractives, and the woody biomass as a whole. We are trying to elucidate the structure, amount, and spatiotemporal distribution of biomolecules. And we are attempting the material application and the functional developments of biomass.

The current research projects are:

• Analysis of chemical components by TOF-SIMS
• Investigation of biosynthesis and its molecular structures of lignin
• Bio-conversion and functional developments of lignocellulosic materials
• Basic studies for pulp and paper industry
